this is just an idea, but I think that the sight needs more than 5 community leaders. Add Chris N and J-squared and I still think that more cl's should be put on to help them out, and help carry the load of the rest of them as well. I kno that they're not here to babysit us, but if you stand back and look at all the crap they all put up with (including Chris and J in this), it'd be enough to drive even the sanest person mad! If we had mor cl's, it would surely lighten the load a bit on the others, and there would be more of them around for thoes of us who either need help on the sight, or just to lighten the load of crap being delt with. I don't kno if this makes any sense at all, but like I said, it's just an idea.
hey liz....i can see where you are coming from on this, i think it is a good idea (more cls, more activated acounts, more kinda....control?). the cls we've got at the moment....have mixed feelings about the amount of time they are here. we need someone that frequents the zone often.... the only cls i've seen on here are, Q, Liz, and harp. KC8PNL i havon't seen since august (but i know he's been here) cos he's been on the boards. and as for mad dog.....does he even exist?. what i used to say about j squared, til i saw him a few nights ago. we should have kept mel and doug....least they were here really often

I am sure comunity leaders do work behind the scenes without appearing in the loggin list so because we don't see them often it doesn't mean that they don't do their jobs. But maybe a couple more wouldn't be a bad idea.
I can understand why they'd stay invisible, but we need cl's who don't do that all the time. I mean, how is a new user going to ask for help, if they need it from an invisible cl? Like I said in my first post, I think having more around would lighten the load on the ones we have now, and on Chris N and J as well.

i think the 2 latest cl's were chosen carefully and were very well made choices also.
I think the cl's we have now do a darn good job. So what if they come on invisible. it gives them a better chance to get things done. if people would quit acting like two year olds and pestering them every time they log in about childish petty fight they are having, then maybe they would spend more time interacting with everyone! They do a darn lot around here and deserve credit for that!
If they are invisible and someoen needs help, there is always the link to email a admin or cl. so use it! smiles!

I must admit that having the roman battle mask would be interesting as a CL. I go for staying with the amount of CL's or maybe adding one more, but having the ones we have be visible more. Maybe it can get rotated or something. The more CL's we have the more people that can weild power over us, and things can get whay out of hand if you have too many people in a management position.
With added members to any team, comes less individual responsibility. Less individual responsibility = less work getting done, and less of a rapid response to problems on the site. 5 seems to make matters flow smoothly under most circumstances, so I don't see that more are needed. This, like any online or offline community for that matter, should consist of most people self policing each other, and more rules typically means less fun in my opinion. In regards to Mel and Doug: both left voluntarily, and that needs to be made clear. In post 2, it was made to look as though we fired them or something. Finally, the CL selections are done very carefully, and that's part of the reason we have only 5. The staff actually has a meeting and each member actually takes the time to go through the applications you all have submited before making a decision on a specific person. I hope this post clears up some of the implied things I have read in this and other threads that are false.
I give them credit for doing all they have to do around here. I just watch and it drives me mad. LOL! I could never do that, don't have the pashants that they do, I would get frustrated easy, so good job to the CL. team, and the admans as well.
Shea and Scott, it was just an idea, that's all. There was no need to get snappy about it. I was only thinking of the load that the cl's have, and it might! have been easier if there were more to help with it, but obviously not. Sorry I even had the idea in the first place.
To back up Scot, it was widely discussed at the time, that both Mel and Doug asked to step down, so that was no way anything to do with the existig group of cl's or admins.
Also what many don't know unless they are friends with those in the job is that many of them are at college, or school. Scot, Ather, Liz, and J, while Q, and Chris both have full time jobs, so it's not surprising we find we don't see those people about so much. It's also not surprising to me, that they are able to get more of the necesary work done while invisible.
I would actually suggest that it would be well worth finding a third admin, or at least someone in between cl and admin who could do at least some of the work Chris does while J seems to only apear every few months. It's his site, and I sometimes wish he'd hand it on to someone like Chris if he's not able to really manage it properly any more.
However, that moved slightly off the point, though just to say, in conclusion, I think 5 cl's is enough, but another admin even if not a programmer could be a help to Chris in the way he has to work with this sometimes.
Yeah Liz I agree with you! We need more cls. When Raajan threatened me for example nothing was done about it. So we need more cls.
